| Abstract: | The thirty-seven scientific papers compiled in this report on pulmonary physiology are organized under the following sections: Mechanics of Ventilation; Alveolar Ventilation and Gas Exchange; Exercise; Blood Gases and Cardiac Output; Ventilation-Perfusion Relationships; Tissue Gas Exchange; Decompression Sickness; Acid-Base Balance; and Miscellaneous. This is part of a series of studies to develop a more thorough knowledge of of the phenomena and mechanics of arterial-alveolar gas exchange during various conditions, to perform research on rates of gas washout, to perform research on ventilation and perfusion, and to study cardiac output before, during, and after exercise.
