Report on reliability test of N.D.R.C. Adaptometer, Model II, Conducted at Submarine Base, New London, Connecticut.

Abstract

A report is presented on reliability testing of N.D.R.C. Adaptometer Model II. Nineteen subjects were employed. These men were prisoners in the Brig and constituted a group whose behavior, outside of the experimental situation, was adequately controlled, especially with respect to sleep and to the use of liquor. Nine men were tested on the morning of July 25th and ten on the afternoon of the same day. On the following day each man was retested after an interval of approximately twenty-four hours. The procedure employed on the first day was that developed by Dr. Bray at Princeton University. On the second day the same procedure was employed, with the exception that the intitial instructions were abbreviated, being reduced to some half dozen practice trials with a brief verbal reminder of the use of the fixation light and of the permissibility of guessing. The results indicate that under the present test conditions, the N.D.R.C. Adaptometer Model II yields data which are satisfactorily reliable.
