Title: Fish census data from scientific divers of the Florida Artificial Reef Program.
Author: Horn, W; Maher, T; Dodrill, J
Abstract: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) has an artificial reef program that has been collecting data on artificial reefs since 1992. Prior to July 1999, this program was located within the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). The program now resides within the Bureau of Marine Fisheries Management (BMFM). The staff from the artificial reef program have been conducting underwater assessments on artificial reefs in all areas of Florida. The data taken on these artificial reef assessments is intended to document the physical status of the reef and determine compliance with FWCC grant conditions for the construction of these reefs. Almost 200 assessments have been done on artificial reefs since 1992. Where conditions and objectives warranted, visual fish census data have been collected by divers with the artificial reef assessment dive team (ADT) on artificial reefs. This paper discusses fish census data from 142 assessment dives on Florida's artificial reefs.
